What is Analytic Art Therapy?

As a space for creative engagement, material expression and reflection, analytic art therapy can support self-exploration and insight, the development of inner resources and sensory regulation.

In analytic art therapy, art-making is understood as part of the therapeutic relationship. My approach draws on psychoanalytic talk therapy in a Lacanian tradition, bringing aspects of this approach into play with art-making to provide a safe space for self-expression and exploration on conscious and unconscious levels.

Engaging in analytic art therapy can support people in many ways, whether they are seeking stability, growth or insight. I work with each person as an individual to understand the needs they bring to the therapeutic space. Analytic art therapy work offers the greatest benefit through regular, medium to long-term engagement, though it can be short-term too.

I work with adults and young people. I offer sessions at affordable fees, and can work with self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants.

Please note: I am not currently taking referrals, but would be happy to recommend another practitioner.
